Timing of replacing the lamp for EPSON EB-440W
It is time to replace the lamp when:
- The message "Replace the lamp." is displayed when you start projecting
- The lamp indicator flashes orange
- The projected image gets darker or starts to deteriorate.
Replacing the lamp
- After you turn off the projector's power and the confirmation buzzer beeps twice, disconnect the power cable.
- Wait until the lamp has sufficiently cooled down, and then remove the lamp cover at the top of the projector. Loosen the lamp cover fixing screw with the screwdriver supplied with the new lamp unit or a Phillips (+) screwdriver. Then slide the lamp cover straight forward and lift to remove it.
- Loosen the two lamp fixing screws.
- Remove the old lamp by pulling the handle.
- Install the new lamp for EPSON EB-440W. Insert the new lamp along the guide rail in the correct direction so that it fits in place, push down firmly at the location marked "PUSH", and once it is fully inserted tighten the two screws. Press the replacement lamp in by the handle until it clicks into place. Push the replacement lamp inside the projector by the handle until it clicks into place.
- Attach the lamp cover.
- Reset the lamp timer.
Resetting the lamp timer
The projector records how long the lamp is on and a message and indicator notify you when it is time to replace the lamp. After replacing the lamp, reset the time accumulated for Lamp Hours in the Configuration Menu.
- Open configuration Menu.
- Scroll to Reset menu.
- Select Reset Lamp Hours.You can clear the cumulative lamp hours, and return it to "0H". Reset this after you replaced the EPSON EB-440W lamp.
Reading the indicators
- If the lamp indicator is flashing red. Check the following two points:
- Take out the lamp and check whether it is cracked.
- Clean the air filter.
- If it is not cracked:
- Reinstall the lamp and turn on the power.
- If the error continues: Replace the lamp with a new one and then turn on the power.
- If the error continues: Stop using the projector, disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet, and contact your local dealer or service center.
- If it is cracked:
- Replace it with a new EPSON EB-440W lamp, or contact your local dealer for further advice. If replacing the lamp yourself, be careful to avoid pieces of broken glass (you cannot continue projecting until the lamp is replaced).
- If the lamp and the temperature indicators are flashing red.
- Internal error. Stop using the projector, disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet, and contact your local dealer or service center.
- If the temperature indicator is lit red.
- High temperature error - overheating. The lamp turns off automatically and projection stops. Wait for approximately five minutes. After approximately five minutes the projector switches to standby mode, so check the following two points.
- Check that the air filter and air exhaust vent are not blocked, and that the projector is not positioned against a wall.
- If the air filter is clogged, clean or replace it.
